                  In the 30’s, sweatshirts were designed to deal with practical concerns of manual labourers working in colder weather.
                  Originally simply thicker, long-sleeve T-shirts, they protected workers from the weather without limiting their movement or comfort.
                  Sweatshirts enjoyed a boom starting in the 70’s as a part and symbol of the hip-hop culture, a tool for the lower classes to express themselves.
